Biosecurity Workshop: Keeping Shapinsay stoat free!

21 April 2023

On 3 May, Chris Bell from the Orkney Native Wildlife Project will be running a workshop on how we can keep Shapinsay free from invasive stoats. This event will run from 12:00 to 15:00 at the Boathouse, Shapinsay.

This is a chance to get familiar with traps and cameras, and make sure that Shapinsay is prepared if a stoat is ever spotted on the island. As our Biosecurity Officer, Chris has a wealth of knowledge to share, and is really eager to develop the skills and provide the equipment necessary for island communities to protect their native wildlife themselves.

Experience is always welcome, but we’re equally happy to see people with little or no experience. The workshop is designed to develop practical skills awareness, and a diverse range of people with different backgrounds can only be a good thing!

Follow-up workshop dates will be announced soon.
